Embracing the benefits of telehealth
Telehealth is one of the new words in our Covid dictionary and while you may still be coming to terms with hearing it, it is playing a key role in the medical and health profession.
Telehealth is one of the new words in our Covid dictionary and while you may still be coming to terms with hearing it, it is playing a key role in the medical and health profession.
At The Urban Physio we’ve adapted our approach to ensure we can continue to offer you our world class service, what ever your circumstances - be it a lockdown, you’re out of town at the bach, or you simply find it more convenient to keep on top of your wellbeing from the comfort of your own home.
What is telehealth?
- Telehealth is a secure way to have a confidential medical-related video consultation with one of our physios.
- Telehealth is suited to anyone wanting physiotherapy advice, including support for acute new injuries, post-surgical rehabilitation, exercise progression and more.
- Telehealth can be offered at any time and can compliment our in-clinic services or can be used as a stand-alone approach to treatment.
How does it work?
- When you book an ‘online’ appointment, we’ll email you an appointment confirmation. This will include a link to access the video call link for your appointment.
- At the appointment time, simply click on the link and a video should appear with your physiotherapist waiting!
- You can complete the call from your choice of phone, laptop or tablet, all you need is a camera.
What can I expect from a telehealth call?
- A comprehensive assessment and injury diagnosis.
- Advice and education on how to manage your condition.
- A home exercise programme tailored to your injury, and an email link to your programme with comprehensive exercise videos.
- Follow up consultations to review your symptoms, progress and exercise progression or adaptations as needed.
- Referral to additional health professionals, X-rays and specialists where appropriate.
How do I prepare for the call?
- Think about any questions you would like answered or any advice.
- Wear appropriate clothing, as we can look at your injury over video, so wear shorts for a knee issue or a singlet for a shoulder problem.
- Make sure you have space available to move for testing and to potentially try some exercises online.
How can I book?
- On our easy to use online booking system: Book Online
- Calling our reception on: 09 216 7799 .
And of course, if you have any other questions or discussion points before the appointment, please contact us. We’re here to help get you back to full health and wellbeing.
