Can I see a Physio without a GP’s referral?
Absolutely. The Urban Physio is ACC registered so we can lodge claims and fill out the necessary paperwork at our initial appointment. We’ll let you know after your initial assessment if we think you need to see your doctor.
What is ACC?
If you have sustained an accident or injury you are entitled to submit a claim to the Accident Compensation Corporation (ACC). An accident must be a sudden incident or event that has happened at a certain time and place. ACC will cover most injuries that have occurred at home, the community, the work place, plus recreational and competitive sports.
ACC will cover the cost of some of your treatment – however, a co-payment is required at every visit. Your Physio will fill in the necessary ACC paperwork for you. We can also refer you for X-ray or ultrasound scans as needed.
Does ACC cover the full cost of treatment?
No, ACC only pays part of the treatment. All patients are required to pay a co-payment.
The surcharge is $65 for the initial consultation (60 minutes) and follow up appointments cost $65 for 60 minutes, $50 for 45 minutes and $35 for 30 minutes.
What if my injury is not an accident?
The Urban Physio also provides treatment for private claims. A number of private claims can be reimbursed by your health insurance provider (dependent on your policy). We can provide receipts for these claims.
The private charge is $120 for the initial consultation (60 minutes) and follow up appointments cost $120 for 60 minutes, $90 for 45 minutes and $60 for 30 minutes.
How long is the appointment?
Our initial assessment and treatment is 60 minutes to ensure that we give you a thorough assessment and provide a treatment plan. Follow up treatments range from 30 to 60 minutes depending on your injury or condition.
